Why the session matters
Liquidity and the character of movement depend on who is trading. The Asian session on the majors is usually narrow and sluggish: range strategies work there, trend ones do not. The London open, and especially the London–New York overlap, is where both the movement and the noise are.
The service takes session boundaries from the same code that runs in the production bot — daylight saving included: in summer London opens at 7 UTC, in winter at 8.
What to choose
- London + New York only — if the strategy is trend-following and
you want movement.
- Asia only — if your style is range trading, but remember the
narrow ranges.
- All sessions — more signals and more heterogeneity: one
configuration will be working in different conditions at once.
Timeframes
The lower the timeframe, the more signals and the more noise among them. On 3–5 minutes lateness matters too: a signal noticed fifteen minutes later is three bars stale.
A sensible start is 1h and 4h: there is enough history, fewer random triggers, and the signal does not go stale while you reach the terminal.
About blackouts
Separately from sessions you can set windows in which no signals are issued: rollover (the trading-day change, when the spread widens), crypto weekends, the funding window and any intervals of your own.
